Vanessa provides therapy to children, teens, and adults. She is passionate about what she does and loves using creative arts in her counseling. She believes each person should be given an opportunity to be heard, have a voice, and be empowered emotionally and spiritually. She enjoys collaborating with children and families from all cultures to discover their strengths, develop positive and better ways to cope, and develop skills to achieve their goals. She approaches counseling from a strengths-based perspective, focusing on the abilities and potential found in everyone. Integrating faith and spiritual integration within the therapeutic process is available upon request.
Her professional background includes both public service and clinical practice at public schools, community outpatient clinics, centers for developmental disorders, and private practice settings.
Vanessa has been providing therapy for over 13 years. She specializes with treating a variety of emotional and behavioral issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustments, grief and loss, and trauma related issues for children, teens, and adults. She also enjoys working alongside college age and young working professionals to develop more of a healthy and confident self both personally and relationally. She is equipped to provide motivational and relationally methods, behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, group therapy, play therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
Vanessa received her B.S in Elementary Education from Presbyterian College and her Master of Social Work (M.S.W) from the University of South Carolina. She is currently licensed with the South Carolina State Board of Social Work Examiners as a Clinical Social Worker (LISW-CP). She is rostered through Project Best to provide Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
