Vanessa Bretzmann 

Vanessa joined SWM in its early years. She has a passion for advocating for those who have limited access to professional care and those who come from diverse cultures and providing them with a safe place for emotional healing.

Approach / Specialty

Vanessa specializes in addressing relational needs, anxiety, depression, adjustments, grief and loss, self-esteem, and career needs.  She also enjoys working alongside teens, college age, and young working professionals to develop a healthy and confident self personally and relationally. 

Vanessa utilizes narrative therapy, creative movement therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. At clients' discretion, she counsels from a Christian faith-integrated approach.

Vanessa received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Presbyterian College and her Master of Social Work (M.S.W) from the University of South Carolina. She is licensed with the South Carolina State Board of Social Work Examiners as a Clinical Social Worker (LISW-CP). She is registered through Project Best to provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has received her certification in EMDR.

Vanessa has been providing therapy for over 15 years. Her professional background includes public service and clinical practice at public schools, community outpatient clinics, centers for developmental disorders, and private practice settings.

Interests

In her free time, Vanessa enjoys cooking, dancing, and time with her family and friends. Some of her self-care activities include exercising, being out in nature, listening to music, and traveling.
